Weekend storms produced a single day record amount of rainfall at Easterwood Airport.

The National Weather Service reported 2.89 inches on Saturday (April 20). That broke the previous record of 2.4 inches that was set in 1915.

Other weekend rainfall reports listed by WTAW listeners:

3.75 inches two miles NNW of Easterwood Airport
3.5 inches in Bryan’s Wheeler Ridge neighborhood
3.3 inches in Bryan’s Miramont/Copperfield neighborhood
2.5 inches on Forsthoff Road south of Kurten
1.5 inches three miles north of Anderson

Saturday’s storms generated lightning which struck a Northgate district bar and restaurant. Social media from The Backyard reported reopening the downstairs area on Sunday. The Backyard’s Facebook page and a College Station fire department spokesman says no one was injured. The CSFD spokesman said there was a four inch hole in the roof where the lightning struck. Firefighters arrived in time to extinguish the fire with minimal amounts of water and foam.
