For the third time in the last six months, there’s been an organizational change at the College Station Public Works Department.

City Manager Glenn Brown has announced the promotion of Chuck Gilman to the director’s post. There will also be a merger of Capital Projects, which Gilman led for three years, into Public Works.

Brown says the first adjustment involved moving some in Public Works to Planning and Zoning. And October 1st, landfill operations officially transferred to BVSWMA.

Gilman starts his new position next Monday, taking over for Mark Smith who recently retired after 30 years with the city. Brown says there will be a salary savings of about $130,000 dollars. There were no other staffing changes.
