The recent announcement that General Motors was preparing for its largest downsizing in ten years includes the end of Chevrolet’s iconic Impala.
The current front wheel drive sedan and its rear wheel drive predecessor were remembered fondly by Tim Light of Tom Light Chevrolet in Bryan.
Tim recalled his father saving a couple of 1996 Caprice Classics in the last year they were in production. After the new front wheel drive Impalas came out, Tim said his father went to the new model, which also had better technology, because it was easier to get into his garage.
Light wasn’t surprised the Impala is going away, due to lagging sales compared with the Malibu.
He was surprised that Chevy is ending production on the Cruze.
And Light says Chevy is bringing back the Trailblazer nameplate to the selection of SUV’s.
