A record setting number of contracts were offered by Bryan ISD last weekend to teacher candidates at the district’s annual recruitment fair.
Deputy superintendent Tim Rocka says 40 were offered contracts this year. That’s up from 25 last year.
Dr. Rocka says some of the candidates were surprised when they were offered contracts.
Dr. Rocka said about 90 prospects were invited to last Saturday’s event.
The contracts were offered after the candidates went through two rounds of interviews.
Rocka said Bryan ISD still has 60 teacher vacancies to fill. District representatives will be attending other career fairs as part of their recruiting effort.
