What can you do with 11,000 pounds of ginger bread?
At Traditions Golf Course, General Manager Bill Horton says they’re building a giant gingerbread house to raise at least $200,000 for St. Joseph’s Trauma Center.
Horton says the 38,000 cubic foot house should be complete on Friday, and representatives from the Guiness Book of World Records will make everything official on Saturday.
Volunteers are still being sought to direct traffic and provide tours, and Santa will be available inside for pictures.
Tours will be available for two weeks on Tuesdays through Sundays from 6 p. m. to 10 p. m., with adult admission $3, and child admission $2.

*The chef notes that this recipe is not very sweet; it is just what they used to build their large house. At Traditions Club, cookies made with a sweetened, enhanced version of the recipe are available for purchase.
3 1/4 pounds brown sugar
8 each eggs
1/4 gallon molasses
1 1/4 ounces ground ginger
1 ounce ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups milk
Place all of the liquid ingredients in first, then the dry; mix using a dough hook. Roll out flat into two baking sheets. Bake 45 minutes at 325 degrees F (the time depends on the oven). Cut to make gingerbread house and secure with icing.
