Recent College Station Fire Department Calls Includes Two Trips To A Fraternity House

College Station firefighters paid two calls Sunday night to the Sigma Chi fraternity house near Deacon and Wellborn. Both times, the issue was a kitchen vent fan not being able to keep up with the smoke generated by someone cooking burgers. Residents were clearing the house with open windows and fans. But residents reset their alarm before all the smoke cleared. That caused the alarm to go off again, resulting in the fire department’s second response.

CSFD also responded Sunday to a pair of natural gas leaks. One was in the Spring Meadows neighborhood, which is off Fitch north of Pebble Creek. Firefighters slowed the leak and monitored gas levels in the area until Atmos Energy crews arrived.

And firefighters checked the Walgreens store at Rock Prairie and Longmire, but found no hazard inside or outside the building.

Monday morning, College Station firefighters responded to a structure fire at a home on Treeline Drive in The Reserve neighborhood west of Wellborn Road. Turns out there was a burning smell from a new furnace motor. There was no fire and no damage.
