For those who drive or walk by Creek View elementary, the reason a school zone sign on Eagle Avenue was knocked down Tuesday afternoon was due to a 17 year old hit and run driver. According to the arrest report, he first backed into a SUV at Alexandria and Graham. Then he took off at a high rate of speed because he was scared of getting in trouble with his parents. The driver lost control turning from Alexandria to Eagle and struck the sign pole. The pole was knocked off its base and fell on the hood of the car. The driver left the second crash without notifying authorities, but was found by police on Newport. The car’s right front tire was missing, that wheel was bent, and there was damage to the hood and front end. As for the back of the car, which was involved in the first collision, there were some scratches and paint transfer.
