Recent Arrests From Gunfire, Robberies, Vehicle Burglaries, Stalking, & Violating Supervision Requirements

Arrests have been made from two reports of gunfire in College Station. The more recent incident was Saturday night on Spring Loop. After responding to the report of a large fight, witnesses reported seeing and hearing gunfire from a man crouched behind a parked vehicle. 42 year old Brian Butler was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon.

In an unrelated case, an arrest was made last week from gunfire in June in the parking lot of a condominium complex off University behind Panera Bread. 23 year old Craig Sweed of Washington was arrested for aggravated robbery. According to the arrest report, Sweed took $1,000 dollars from victims who wanted to buy cocaine. After Sweed shot out the back window of a car, gunfire was returned by one of the victims. No one was hit in the exchange.

A College Station woman has been arrested on an aggravated robbery charge from a holdup in Bryan two months ago. 29 year old Ruby Tirado is accused of knocking on the door of her ex-boyfriend’s house on Bittle Lane. Three men with Tirado then robbed the ex and a second person of $400 dollars. Both victims were struck and were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

A Brenham teenager faces more charges from a series of vehicle burglaries in Bryan in July. 17 year old Tre’Darien Shepard was originally arrested for evading arrest and failing to identify himself. Shepard was arrested again on Sunday for breaking into five vehicles in the Pecan Ridge subdivision.

A man who lives along the Mexico border is in the Brazos County jail after he was arrested by College Station police for stalking an ex-girlfriend. According to the arrest report, 20 year old Brandon Urena is accused of following the victim from San Juan, which borders McAllen. Friends of the victim reported Urena showing up at her apartment last weekend.

About a year and a half ago, a nearly 30 year Texas A&M policeman went to prison for a brief time after admitting to possessing child pornography and committing two burglaries on campus. Since then, 58 year old John Phillips was released only to be arrested for violating four terms of his community supervision. Phillips is out of jail after posting a $50,000 dollar bond. Phillips could be ordered to serve a ten year sentence.
