A car fire east of College Station three weeks ago has led to two arrests on charges of conspiracy to commit arson. 55 year old Timothy Voss of Bryan and 32 year old Lasha Spacek of College Station are out of jail after posting bond following their arrests last week by the Brazos County sheriff’s office. According to the arrest report, the victims were awakened at 4:30 in the morning by the sound of an explosion. An arson was determined by the state fire marshal’s office after finding evidence of an accelerant and the remains of a burned gas can. Investigators also used cell phone records to find text messages about where to set the fire and making arrangements to be paid for the arson.
A Somerville man is in the Brazos County jail following arrests by College Station and Bryan police. And 25 year old John Robert Reliford is also being held by the state on a parole violation charge. The weekend before last, a former boyfriend told College Station police Reliford threatened him with a handgun. According to the arrest report, Reliford said the former boyfriend concocted the story to get him in trouble. During the interview with CSPD, Reliford accused the former boyfriend of taking $1,400 dollars and a cash register from a Bryan business. Bryan police arrested Reliford and not the former boyfriend. According to the BPD arrest report, Reliford was inside the business the night before the burglary. And the businessowner told investigators Reliford was fired the month before the burglary.
A parks and wildlife officer who spotted a car without headlights on Monday night at nine between Millican and Navasota led to the driver being booked in the Brazos County jail for the 27th time in 20 years. 39 year old Brandon Watson, whose residence is listed in jail records as Navasota, was arrested for DWI with at least two prior convictions. According to the arrest report, breath alcohol tests done 90 minutes after he was stopped averaged almost twice the legal limit. Last May, Watson pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to four years probation and perform 100 hundred hours of community service. The month before, Watson pleaded guilty to driving without a license and was ordered to pay a fine.
A Bryan man who told Bryan police he went to a used car lot after his girlfriend’s vehicle was repossessed to get his floor jack is accused of hitting the business owner and a customer in the face. According to the arrest report, 32 year old Dexter Pope also threatened the owner with a tire iron, and the owner used a metal baseball bat to defend himself. While the owner and Pope were on the ground struggling over the bat, the customer put Pope in a head lock. And that’s when Pope struck the customer. Pope was also arrested for not having a driver’s license and a warrant for failing to appear at a prior court hearing in an unrelated case.
A Bryan man on probation for evading arrest is back in jail after being accused of breaking into a Bryan home while a man was in the shower. The victim reported Tuesday morning about 10:30 hearing someone trying to break through the back door of his home. According to the arrest report, an officer stopped two men riding bicycles nearby who were described as well known burglars. One of the two who was stopped was identified by the victim. That led to the arrest of 18 year old Jabori Woods, who is serving 18 months probation and ordered to serve 150 hours community service after his arrest last March for evading arrest. An officer fished Woods out of a drainage ditch that was 80 percent full of water.
