Recap of Repairing Major Water Line Break in College Station

Thanks the the hottest day of the year and a waterline break, the city of College Station pumped a record amount of water Monday.

Water services director Dave Coleman says 25.8 million gallons included what was lost when the eight inch water line broke in the area of Holleman and Harvey Mitchell Parkway.

Coleman says shifting ground due to recent dry conditions were to blame for the break.

While repairs were completed around midnight, residents and businesses were asked to hold off on irrigating lawns until Tuesday morning to allow water tanks to fill up.

Atmos Energy employees were also on the scene, isolating the location of natural gas lines before repairs were made to the water line.
