The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University has named Dr. Jim Gaines as their new chief economist.
Gaines joined the staff in 2005 and is the Center’s most quoted research economist in state and national media. Gaines said he is still learning his new role.
“First is to coordinate the research efforts at the Center to plan for what we are going to be doing and looking at,” said Gaines.
Gaines is the sixth person to hold the title in the Center’s 44-year history.
“This is a unique center, there really isn’t another one like us in the United States because we’ve been looking, trying to compare notes and see how we are all doing. It’s challenging and I for one pretty excited about trying to move some things forward,” he said.
Gaines succeeds Dr. Mark Dotzour who retired after 18 years with the Center.
