Rain Swollen River Claims Life

CUERO, Texas (AP) _ Funeral arrangements are pending for a Cuero teen whose body has been recovered from debris in the rain-swollen Guadalupe River.

Counselors were available Tuesday at Cuero High School over the death of 17-year-old Jeremy Perez. His body was located Monday.

DeWitt County Justice of the Peace Peggy Meyer has ordered an autopsy.

Perez became separated from his friends on Friday while swimming. Rescuers using boats were hampered in their weekend search after the river rose up to 12 feet above normal levels.
