The eighth time a trial date was set, a Brazos County district court jury considered the case of a Bryan man arrested four years ago for stealing from a Bryan Wal Mart store. 37 year old Robert Dwayne Jones is appealing the jury conviction that he took $200 dollars of electronics, and a seven year prison sentence that takes into account his criminal history of two prior thefts and two prior convictions for evading arrest.
A Bryan man taken to jail on Valentine’s Day for the 16th time in nearly 30 years is headed to prison. That’s after 46 year old Anthony Nelms reached a plea agreement on a charge from June of last year for possessing less than one gram of cocaine. Nelms was sentenced to 12 years. As part of the plea agreement, charges were dropped from Nelms’s arrest last month for evading arrest in a vehicle and driving with an invalid license…both with prior convictions.
A Bryan man who admitted to making a false report of a man with a gun at Rudder High School two and a half years ago is headed to a state jail. That’s after 20 year old Christen Green failed to comply with some of the conditions of his probation. According to online court records, Green has never written a letter of apology to the Bryan school district for what happened in September of 2016. And during a four month period last year, he failed to submit to drug and alcohol testing ten times. Green was given credit for time served, that will reduce his eight month sentence.
A College Station man is going to prison for pushing his girlfriend into a staircase a year ago. According to online records, it’s the 28th time Bryant has been in the Brazos County jail in almost 20 years.
