Proposed changes to Northgate are expected to go before the College Station City Council Thursday night.
In November of last year, city staff along with the Texas Department of Transportation, presented a plan to council to enhance pedestrian safety along University Drive between Wellborn Road and Tauber
All Bryan ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. All Bryan ISD extracurricular activities will be canceled. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 23rd, following our regular schedule. All College Station ISD schools will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Normal operations resume Thursday, January 23. Twin City Mission has postponed the ribbon cutting and open house of their new warehouse, scheduled for Wednesday January 22nd, until a date and time yet to be determined. The city of College Station has rescheduled the Northgate Small Area Plan kickoff meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, to Tuesday, January 28 from 6-8 p.m. at city hall. Brazos Transit District (BTD) will delay service for all areas until 10 AM on Tuesday, January 21st. Brazos County offices are closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025 for non-essential personnel, and this week’s county commission meeting will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. College Station ISD school board meetings originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025 have been moved to Friday, January 24th with the workshop starting at noon and the regular meeting at 1 p.m. College Station solid waste collections will be pushed back one day (Tuesday’s routes on Wednesday, etc.) through Saturday. Brazos Valley Recycling will push back its collections one day through Saturday. The City of College Station’s Employee Health Clinic at 1700 University Drive East will delay its opening until 1 p.m. on Tuesday. City of College Station offices are closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Wellborn Special Utility District office will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Customers who have an emergency can call 979-690-9799. Customers with billing questions can call 979-690-9799. Employees will be working remotely and will get back to you as soon as possible. Texas A&M announces Bryan/College Station classes are cancelled and non-essential campus operations are suspended January 21st. Bryan ISD has cancelled classes on Tuesday, January 21. BISD also announced the district will not be required to make up this missed day. BISD classes for Monday, January 20, were already cancelled due the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. College Station ISD has cancelled classes on Tuesday, January 21. CSISD classes for Monday, January 20, were already cancelled due the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. All Blinn College District campuses will be closed and classes are canceled for Tuesday, January 21st. The Becky Gates Children’s Center and Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. The George Bush Presidential Library & Museum will be closed January 21. All Prairie View A&M University campuses will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. The Wellborn SUD Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st has been cancelled and re-scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th @ 6:00 pm at the Wellborn SUD office. United Way of the Brazos Valley announces a warming center will be available from Sunday (January 19) at 5 p.m. through Thursday (January 23) at 9 a.m. The center is located in Bryan at the Elks Lodge, which is on Mobile Avenue behind Triangle Storage. Volunteers are also being recruited to assist at the warming center. It’s back to the drawing board for the College Station city council on the future of the former Macy’s store building. Councilman Mark Smith, visiting on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, says they received no offers to buy the building and surrounding parking area. Smith says they are open and willing to talk with the owners of Post Oak Mall and anyone else who is interested in redeveloping the mall. The council purchased the property for $7.3 million dollars in September of 2022. The city of College Station sent WTAW News the following statement: Although the initial request for bids did not result in formal submissions, we’re encouraged by the ongoing interest several parties have expressed in the former Macy’s property. Before releasing the request for bids, the City engaged in preliminary discussions with a potential buyer interested in redeveloping the site. The sale of municipally owned property must adhere to a formal process that ensures fairness and equal opportunity for all interested parties. In addition to a bidding process, retailers and developers can acquire property through private negotiations, partnerships, or broker-led transactions. The City recognizes the property’s critical importance and potential as a transformative catalyst for economic growth and revitalization in the surrounding area. We’re committed to pursuing all viable opportunities while ensuring a process that maximizes the property’s potential and aligns with the long-term vision for the community.
