Proposed College Station Elementary School Boundary Changes Draws Public Hearing Comments From 23 Opponents And No Supporters

College Station school board members heard from 23 people over two days of public hearings who were opposed to the recommended changes in elementary school boundaries.

The majority of speakers were parents living in Castlegate one who don’t want their children moved from Forest Ridge to Spring Creek.

Parents also want grandfathering to include not only this year’s third graders, but their younger brothers and sisters.

It’s the first time parents of elementary students are dealing with the College Station school board’s new procedure for changing boundaries. Some parents were critical of the board no longer including community input as part of the process of making recommendations.

The administration’s recommendations and feedback from parents and CSISD residents in person and in e-mails will be considered by the board in a series of workshops that starts Monday at 6 p.m.
