Private Plane Pilot Almost Makes Successful Emergency Landing in Burleson County

A private plane that ran out of fuel almost had enough room to make a successful emergency landing near the Brazos River in Burleson County Thursday morning.

DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says the pilot landed the Beechcraft twin engine aircraft on an oilfield road near FM 50.

Morgan says when the road ended the front landing gear got stuck in a plowed cotton field, causing the plane to flip over on its top.

Morgan says FAA investigators on the scene reported the plane’s gas tank was empty.

The pilot, from Arkansas, and his passenger, from Mississippi, were taken to St. Joseph’s in Bryan to be checked out for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Morgan says the flight from Arkansas was headed to San Antonio for the passenger to pick up another plane.
