A nearly 30 year officer with the Texas A&M police department is headed to prison.
56 year old John Phillips pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing child pornography and two on-campus burglaries.
Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Ryan Calvert says Phillips was sentenced to ten years. But Phillips can apply for probation in six months.
Phillips retired seven years ago as a master police officer, after joining the department in 1978.
Calvert says it will be up to prison officials where Phillips is held.
Phillips was caught pawning items he stole from the Blocker Building and having in his wallet a data card containing pornographic images.
Calvert says Phillips will also be required to register as a sex offender.
