Prison For C-Store Armed Robbery and Big Theft From Bryan Home

Two men from Lamar County in northeast Texas are headed to prison after ransacking a Bryan home two years ago and taking more than $25,000 dollars of electronics and jewelry. As part of a plea agreement, 26 year old Chad Salyer of Powderly and 27 year old Johnny Dale Smith Jr. of Paris were sentenced to six years each. They were friends of a woman who was housesitting at the time of the theft. The housesitter, who according to the arrest report told investigators she suspected the theft took place while she went to the store and left them alone, was not arrested.

Another plea agreement with the Brazos County district attorney’s office involves an armed robbery of a Bryan convenience store last November. 33 year old Asa Shavers Jr. admitted to the holdup at the Shell at 29th and Barak as well as violating probation from a residential burglary in September 2010 where property valued at $3,500 dollars was taken. Shavers was given a ten year prison sentence.
