Several events benefitting the Brazos Valley Food Bank begins this weekend.
Director Theresa Mangapora says the seventh annual Empty Bowls fundraiser gives you the opportunity to leave a mininum donation of $15 dollars and walk away with a handmade ceramic bowl. The seventh annual event is Saturday from 11 until 2 in downtown Bryan.
Also coming up is a fast sponsored by the A&M Muslim Student Association and run through the lights at Santa’s Wonderland.

Mangapora says they’ve had to turn away those appearing at mobile food pantries and there’s not enough food to fill school backpacks.
For the second consecutive year, Mangapora says the food bank will serve more than 50,000 people.
Each dollar goes to purchase five pounds of food.
