Power Outage in South College Station

5:50 p.m. update from College Station Utilities:

At about 4:45 p.m., sectionalizing equipment at CSU’s Spring Creek substation detected a problem and opened up, leaving about 5,000 customers without power.  CSU mobilized crews to the substation to determine the source of the problem, while also deploying crews to the field to begin restoring power by doing switching on the distribution system.  Power has been restored to all customers.  The problem that caused this outage is still being investigated.

Much of south College Station is in a major power outage. At its peak, 5,300 customers were affected.

The outage was reported Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m.

No word yet on the cause.
