Polish Folk Music Opens This Week’s Bryan City Council Meeting

This week’s Bryan city council meeting gave a new definition of chamber music.

Mayor Jason Bienski welcomed the Polish folk group Tekla Klebetnica.

Two members of the quartet performed before the council began its business.

The mayor invited violinist-vocalist Ania Adamowska and accordionist is Zgymunt Czupryn to continue playing during the rest of the meeting to continue the “calm and serene” atmosphere.

It is the third time the family of Texas A&M professor Jim and Kathy Mazurkiewicz has hosted the quartet.

Dr. Mazurkiewicz told WTAW News the group had over 17 concerts this year, including Houston, Bryan, Dallas, Floresville, Terlingua, Chappell Hill, Bandera, Plantersville and Anderson. That equals their visits in 2013 and 2014.
