Please Be Seated Campaign Brings Awareness

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Brazos Valley Injury Prevention Coalition is bringing awareness through their Please Be Seated campaign.

Mary Jo Prince, Program Coordinator, says you can report motorists driving around with unrestrained children in their vehicles by mailing a specially-designed postcard to the TxDOT Bryan District office or by going online.

“Please Be Seated allows us to send the information to those that may need updates and just reminders of how important it is to keep our children safe, not only because it is the law, but because we want to reduce injuries and fatalities,” said Prince.

The Please Be Seated postcards can be picked up at various locations in the Brazos Valley including the Bryan Department of Public Safety, the Brazos County Health Department, both Bryan and College Station libraries, area hospitals, pediatrician offices, and the Brazos County Courthouse.

“When someone sends in a card, it is not a matter of sending a citation, it is just a means for us to provide them with additional information,” said Prince.

Prince added they are hosting a Child Safety Seat Check Up event on Saturday, April 7th from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the Bryan Target parking lot.
