Punishment has been completed by a former College Station resident who was arrested last April for stealing $50,000 dollars from a former employer.
34 year old Suvranil Basu pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor theft.
That’s after his former employer notified police that an internal audit revealed fraudulent travel and expense reports that were made between April and December of last year.
According to the Brazos County district attorney’s office, Basu paid $35,000 dollars restitution at the time of the plea.
He was also ordered to serve 30 days in the county jail. But according to prosecutors, Basu was released at Wednesday at 3 a.m. after serving a total of 14 days…two days after he was arrested and another 12 days leading up to his release.
