A Bryan woman has admitted driving a pickup in the Northgate parking garage and striking a crowd which resulted in one death and two critical injuries.

28 year old Alma Martinez was charged with criminally negligent homicide for killing A&M student Lindsay Walters.

Martinez and the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office entered an agreement Thursday where she pleaded guilty to the felony.

She was sentenced to five years probation. Conditions include serving one week in jail each year on the anniversary of the March 2009 incident.

Martinez was also given the opportunity to remove the conviction off her record if she doesn’t get into trouble during the probation period.

She was also ordered to stay out of bars and pay a one thousand dollar fine.

According to the indictment, Martinez drove her pickup at an unreasonable speed or failed to steer the truck away from pedestrians or failed to alert pedestrians or failed to slow down what was legally considered to be a deadly weapon that was capable of causing death.
