Texas A&M officials are preparing for a “safe evacuation” of the university’s campus in Qatar due to the ongoing war in Iran.

That’s according to a March 5th post from interim president Tommy Williams’s website.

Williams says “At this time, our employees and students in Qatar are following the guidance of the U.S. Embassy and remain sheltered in place, continuing their remote learning. In line with Embassy recommendations, we are making preparations to support their safe evacuation as soon as it becomes possible.”

The interim president also reported university officials have been in direct contact with every student and employee who was off campus at the time the war began. Williams said “some of our students, faculty and staff were traveling in or around the region when the conflict began. The university has been in direct contact with each of these individuals and are facilitating their relocation to a safe location.”
