Pilot’s Body Found in Laguna Madre

PORT MANSFIELD, Texas (AP) _ Crews have recovered the body of a man they believe to have been the pilot of a plane that crashed into the Laguna Madre.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence tells the Valley Morning Star of Harlingen that the Harvey Kinikin’s body was recovered about 2 p.m. Sunday near the crash site.

The 39-year-old Amarillo man was at the controls of a twin-engine Piper PA-30 when it went down Thursday night near the South Texas fishing community of Port Mansfield.

The body of 48-year-old Robert James Robinett of Sunray was found in the water Friday.

The aircraft had left the Texas Panhandle town of Borger and was headed for Port Mansfield when it went down after leaving Borger in the Texas Panhandle on Thursday evening.
