Perry Outraises White as Election Draws Near

Gov. Rick Perry

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Gov. Rick Perry raised more than $8 million since late September while his Democratic opponent Bill White pulled in about $3.6 million over the same period. That’s according to new disclosures released by the campaigns.

The filings with the Texas Ethics Commission cover the period between Sept. 24 and Oct. 23. White says he raised nearly $1 million online, while Perry aides say the Republican governor netted more than $230,000 over the Internet.

Perry said he still has more than $2 million in the bank. White didn’t immediately disclose how much he had in cash, and the figures were not immediately available from the Texas Ethics Commission.
