Perry ‘Fine’ After Breaking Collarbone

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Gov. Rick Perry says he feels “fine” after breaking his collarbone in a bicycle accident.

Perry returned to work today with his right arm in a sling — forcing him to sign legislation with his left hand during a ceremony at the Texas Capitol.

Perry described how he fell off his bike Tuesday night while riding “down a hill that looked substantially less steep than it was.”

Perry, 59, says it was “back wheel over helmet, shoulder on ground.” He was wearing a helmet.

The Republican, who is expected to seek re-election in 2010, told reporters in Austin that his accident “would have been a great looking video.”

The governor’s bicycle was not damaged.
