COLLEGE STATION – A pair of Aggie sprinters received SEC weekly accolades following their performances at the UTSA Roadrunner Invitational. Jace Comick repeated as the men’s Runner of the Week while Tierra Robinson-Jones was selected as the women’s Freshman of the Week.
Recording a second consecutive victory in the 100m, Comick ran a SEC-leading 10.22w as he bettered the runner-up by 0.33. Comick, who earned the SEC Runner of the Week the previous weekend for sweeping the 100m and 200m, currently ranks second among Division 1 times in the 100m under all-conditions and is equal 13th on the 2019 world list under all-conditions.
Robinson-Jones finished runner-up to teammate Syaira Richardson as they raced in adjacent lanes in the 400m. With Richardson winning the race in an outdoor career best of 52.21, Robinson-Jones followed in 52.66, which ranks No. 12 on the Aggie all-time list. For the 2019 outdoor season, Robinson-Jones currently has the top time by a freshman in the 400m and ranks third among all collegians. She is also 11th on the 2019 outdoor world list.
Texas A&M competes in the Texas Relays this week, from Wednesday to Saturday, with the heptathlon and decathlon beginning tomorrow for Aggies Tyra Gittens and Nathan Hite.
