Repeat DWI Offender Sentenced to 25 Years By Brazos County Judge
On Tuesday, Brazos County Judge David Hilburn sentenced a habitual DWI offender to 25 years in prison. Jail records show that 50-year-old Nestor Richard Padron, Jr. had his first DWI charge in 1997. He has been booked into the Brazos County a total of 34 times. Padron has been in custody since June 15, 2023. On the day he was arrested, he was found to have a blood alcohol of 0.202 percent. His previous arrests include Evading Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, Family Violence Assault, Interference with an Emergency Call, Violation of a Protective Order, and Failure to Identify. He has previously been sentenced to prison on two occasions for Continuous Family Violence Assault and Tampering with Evidence. Assistant District Attorney Kevin Capps says, “Civilians recognized the danger the defendant posed to everyone on the road and made the right decision to call the police and protect Brazos County citizens. Our roads are made safer with the defendant off the streets.”
Inmate Dies After Experiencing Medical Emergency at Brazos County Jail
The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate at the Brazos County Jail has died after being experiencing a medical emergency. Officials say that on Sunday, August 23, 2026, a 59-year-old man was conscious when he transported via EMS to a local hospital. His condition deteriorated and despite continued efforts by medical professionals, he was pronounced deceased. At this time, there are no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. A thorough investigation is underway, and the Texas Rangers will conduct an independent investigation, which is standard in cases involving an in-custody death. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has been notified. A Custodial Death Report will also be submitted to the Texas Attorney General’s Office in accordance with state law.
Man Arrested for DWI After Police Say He Was Found Passed Out On Campus
A man was arrested after he was found passed out in a flower bed on the Texas A&M campus. University Police were dispatched to reports of an unconscious person in Parking Lot 30A just after 1 o’clock Friday morning. Officers found 22-year-old Matthew Suleiman Nimri, of Houston, lying unconscious in a raised dirt bed approximately 20 feet from a running vehicle parked in a handicapped space. When officers woke Nimri, he was disoriented and his speech was slurred. Officers also reported seeing leaves in his hair and his zipper undone. He had a stamp on his hand from the 12 Rooftop Bar and Lounge in Northgate. Nimri declined to provide a voluntary breath or blood specimen, but police obtained a search warrant for a blood sample. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and later released on $4,000 bond.
