One Obstacle Remaining To Open University Drive Extension In East Bryan

There appears to be one obstacle that’s keeping barricades in front of the University Drive extension east of Boonville Road.

Bryan city manager Kean Register and the city’s director of strategic projects, Lindsey Guindi, told the city council at their last meeting that TxDOT required rerouting Dansby Lane from Boonville to the University extension.

The update was followed by city council vote to pay for the relocation, along with the future extension of utility lines under the University extension from the new Oakmont subdivision. Guindi says that won’t happen in the immediate future.

The additional costs, which will come out of the city of Bryan’s water and wastewater funds, are part of the agreement made three years ago with the owners of the Oakmont development…who are planning to build up to eight hundred homes in the area generally bordered by the University extension, Boonville, and Copperfield.
