Students, their parents, and employees in one Brazos Valley school district get a surprise from their school board and their superintendent.

Buffalo ISD superintendent Adam Ivey says the board agreed to end the school year a week sooner than planned.

In a video posted on the Buffalo ISD/Bison Nation Facebook page, Ivy said because Buffalo ISD will reach the minimum number of instructional minutes required by the state, the last day of school will be May 17th instead of May 23rd.

State law requires a minimum 75,600 minutes of instructional time.
