Former students who attended Consolidated and College View High Schools who completed required classes but have failed old state mandated “TAKS” or “TAAS” tests have another way to graduate.
The College Station school board at this month’s meeting passed a resolution adopting an alternative graduation program.
Superintendent Clark Ealy and director of student services Chrissy Hester told the board that former students who are now in their 20’s can go before a local graduation committee.
The committee can consider eight variables to approve graduation.

The state legislature passed the law last year, but the state education department didn’t set the rules until three weeks ago.
The alternative graduation committee is available only until August 31st of next year.
Eligible students are those who enrolled as ninth graders prior to the 2011-2012 school year, before the opening of College Station High School.
