The ability of a Texas city to place red light cameras appears safe, at least according to State Senator Steve Ogden of Bryan.
The move to eliminate red light cameras was tacked on as part of the restructuring of the Texas Department of Transportation.
The namesake of the Bryan school district’s football stadium has died. The announcement of Merrill Green’s passing was shared on the X/Twitter account of Bryan High School principal Lane Buban. Green coached the Bryan High football team between 1972 and 1992. He was also a member of the Bryan ISD school board for more than 12 years, retiring from that position in 2012. A biography published by the Chickasha, Oklahoma school district says Green graduated high school there as senior class president. The biography also points out Green graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the 1950 national championship football team and the 1951 national championship baseball team. Green moved to Bryan after spending seven years at Abilene Cooper High School. Before beginning his high school coaching career, Green coached on the collegiate level at Wichita State, the University of Missouri, the University of Arkansas and at Texas Tech. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Merrill Green was 94 years old.
There is a new contract between Baylor Scott and White Health (BSW) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS-TX). A BSW spokeswoman tells WTAW News that an agreement was reached that will keep their providers in network with BCBS-TX. No details of the new contract were released. The BSW spokeswoman says “as related documents are finalized, BCBS members will continue receiving uninterrupted, in-network care.” BCBS-TX issued on its website, a statement that is similar to what was issued by BSW. Brazos County commissioners hear allegations of voter fraud. The commission’s general counsel said the district attorney’s office was told about one person voting twice in this year’s Republican primary runoff. A spokeswoman in the DA’s office told WTAW News that they do not comment on their investigations or pending cases. Commissioners heard the allegations during Tuesday’s meeting (September 24) from the chairman of the Brazos County Democratic Party, Thomas Cavaness.
