The Northgate parking garage is going cashless. Starting Friday, garage users can only use a debit or credit card as payment.
Eric Chapman, Northgate District Supervisor, said this will allow Northgate staff to focus on other duties.
“We pick up litter, remove graffiti from buildings, and we enforce civil and criminal parking ordinances,” said Chapman.
Chapman said the new system is also more user-friendly.
“We now have the capability for our customers to pay in our exit lanes, previously they did not have that capability,” said Chapman.
Garage users can still use the pay stations located at the southeast and southwest corners of the garage.
Chapman said if you do not have a debit/credit card, you can use coins to park at one of the 98 single-space street meters or in the pay-by-space lot on Church Avenue.
