Authorities are looking for the person responsible for strangling a woman and striking her with a hammer.
College Station police responded Saturday night at 9:30 to Southgate Village apartments.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A news release stated the victim knew who assaulted her, but no specific identity was released.

College Station police report no one was hit by gunfire outside an apartment complex Friday night.
24 year old Shawn Deere of College Station was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the arrest report, Deere said he fired a 22 caliber revolver. Officers recovered the gun from his front right pocket and 16 rounds of assorted ammunition in his left pocket.
The confrontation at The Gables apartments on University Oaks Boulevard was prearranged and followed an argument after the victims, a man and his girlfriend, had kicked Deere’s girlfriend out of their apartment.
Officers also learned the female victim videotaped the gunfire and the altercation that preceded it.
