No More Condition Updates on Fort Hood Shooter

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ The Army major suspected of opening fire and killing 13 fellow soldiers at Fort Hood has requested that hospital officials release no further information on his condition.

Dewey Mitchell, a spokesman at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, said Tuesday that he could no longer offer condition or status reports on Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

On Monday, Hasan was listed in stable condition and met with an attorney hired by his family for the first time. The attorney, John Galligan, said Monday that Hasan was able to talk and requested a lawyer when approached by investigators.

No formal charges have been filed against Hasan, but Army officials have said Hasan allegedly fired more than 100 rounds, killing 13 people and wounding 29 at Fort Hood.
