No Injuries Reported in East Texas Storm

LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) _ Storms hit East Texas on Wednesday, damaging homes, businesses and vehicles in East Texas.

No injuries have been reported so far.

The Longview News-Journal reports that police closed off a roadway in the city because of a gas leak. Sheet metal and insulation are strewn around U.S. 80. Crews are working to clear away fallen trees.

Southwestern Electric Power Co. says some 1,150 customers are without power this evening. Downed power lines led officials to close a stretch of Loop 281.

FedEx Freight supervisor Barry Rhodes said he and other workers ran for cover after he saw a 20- to 30-foot wide funnel cloud.
