No. 9 A&M Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 7 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Texas A&M’s women’s basketball team could not overcome a slow start, as the No. 9 Aggies fell 71-58 to No. 7 Tennessee in Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday.

Tennessee (13-2, 3-0 SEC) jumped out to a 22-7 lead early in the first half, but A&M hung with the Lady Vols for the remainder of the half, going into intermission down 47-31.

The Aggies (14-3, 2-1 SEC) cut the deficit to just nine points with a pair of free throws by Jordan Jones with 9:59 to play, but Tennessee then went on a 14-0 run to put the game away.

Courtney Walker led the Aggies with a season-high 25 points, her fourth 20+ point game this season. She was joined in double figures by Courtney Williams, who had 11.

Achiri Ade led the Aggies with 10 rebounds, marking her third straight game with 10+ rebounds

The Aggies now return home to host LSU in the 40 Years of Women’s Basketball reunion game on Sunday, January 11 at 12 p.m. on ESPNU.
