No. 3 Texas A&M Baseball Welcomes No. 6 Vanderbilt for Top 10 Battle

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Winners of nine of its last 10, the No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team (29-4, 8-4) welcomes No. 6 Vanderbilt (26-7, 8-4) to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for a three-game set starting Friday night at 6 p.m.

The Top 10 battle marks the first at Blue Bell Park since the 2016 matchup between the Aggies and Commodores.

Friday and Sunday’s contest will be streamed on SEC Network+, while Saturday’s game will air nationally on SEC Network. The weekend set can also be heard locally on SportsRadio 1150AM/93.7 The Zone. Fans can also follow along with the games on X, @AggieBaseball.

Friday’s series opener marks the 24th meeting all-time between the two clubs. The Maroon & White lead the series 13-10 and have won six of the last 10 contests. At home, Texas A&M is 4-2 against Vanderbilt.

On the mound, the Aggies currently rank first nationally in shutouts (6), second in ERA (3.23), second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.67), fifth in strikeouts per nine (11.9), sixth in WHIP (1.18), 11th in hits allowed per nine (7.32) and 11th in walks allowed per nine (3.26).

The usual trio of LHP Ryan Prager, RHP Tanner Jones and LHP Justin Lamkin will toe the rubber for the Maroon & White this weekend. The trio has combined for a 10-2 record and a 3.32 ERA in 23 starts this season.

Prager has been brilliant in the Friday night role for the Aggies this season as the redshirt sophomore holds a 6-0 record to go along with a 2.30 ERA and 63 strikeouts. The Texas A&M ace currently ranks second nationally in WHIP (0.79), third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (12.6), seventh in wins and eighth in walks allowed per nine (1.05).

Offensively, the Maroon & White sit second nationally in walks (232), ninth in homers (64), 12th in home runs per game (1.94), 11th in slugging percentage (.555), 13th in on-base percentage (.434) and 19th in runs scored (287).

Entering the weekend, outfielder Braden Montgomery ranks third nationally and leads the SEC with 51 RBI. The junior also sits third nationally in total bases (112), fourth in homers (17), fourth in slugging percentage (.889), fifth in home runs per game (0.52) and fifth in RBI per game (1.55).

TURN IT GOLD: This weekend, the Aggies will ‘Turn It Gold’ against the Commodores. The Turn It Gold foundation fights for the voiceless youth in pursuit of elevating childhood cancer awareness and generating bold action through online story sharing, events, and media with the hopes to change the percentage of dollars invested in childhood cancer research and make a real difference for a cure.

SATURDAY: Fans can take their picture with Reveille prior to Saturday’s game on the plaza.

SUNDAY: The first 1,000 fans will receive a FREE bubble blaster, while Maroon Aggie script t-shirts are available to the first 500 kids prior to Sunday’s finale. Following Sunday’s contest, kids 12-and-under will be able to run the bases and get autographs.
