SAN MARCOS – The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team captured its sixth straight win Tuesday night, run-ruling Texas State (15-14), 12-2, in seven innings in midweek action from Bobcat Ballpark.

With the win, the Aggies are off to their best start since 2015 with a 26-3 record. The victory also moved the Maroon & White to a perfect 8-0 in midweek action this season.

Zane Badmaev earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year after striking out three in 1.2 scoreless frames of relief. The senior entered the game in the third with the bases loaded and escaped the jam to keep Texas A&M in front 4-1. Starter Luke Jackson received a no-decision after allowing one run on two hits over 2.1 innings of work.

Braden Montgomery, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, powered the offensive attack for the Aggies, going 2-for-4 with a homer and a game-best four RBI. Freshman Gavin Grahovac extended his on-base streak to 17 games after logging a game-high three hits to go along with a pair of RBI. Jackson Appel (2-for-4), Hayden Schott (2-for-3) and Ryan Targac (2-for-3) also recorded multi-hit performances in the win for the Maroon & White.

After leading off the game with a double down the line in left, Grahovac came around to score on a two-run homer into the wind in left by Montgomery. The long ball marked the junior’s fifth in the last four contests. Later in the frame, Schott extended the advantage with an RBI double that plated Appel, who reached on a double of his own.

Following a solo homer by the Bobcats in the second, the Maroon & White got the run back in the third with an RBI triple off the bat of Schott.

In the fourth, Montgomery tacked on his 50th and 51st RBI of the season with a two-run double into the gap in right, stretching the lead to 6-1.

In the fifth, the Aggie offense exploded for five runs as the advantage expanded to 11-1. Ali Camarillo and Grahovac logged RBI singles in the frame, while Targac added a two-run double.

Caden Sorrell tacked on the final run of the night for the Aggies in the sixth with an RBI triple off the wall in left. The triple marked the second of the rookie’s career.

Texas State pushed across a run in the bottom half of the sixth on a wild pitch to make the final 12-2, in favor of the Maroon & White.

Texas A&M totaled 12 hits and drew eight walks in the win.
The Aggies logged eight extra-base hits, including five doubles.
Five different batters recorded a multi-hit performance for the Maroon & White.
Appel, Grahovac and Ted Burton each scored a game-high two runs.
Isaac Morton allowed one run, which was unearned, in 1.1 innings of work.
Brock Peery finished off the win with 1.2 scoreless frames to go along with three strikeouts.

Notes

With the win, Texas A&M is now 49-14 all-time against the Bobcats and have claimed nine of the last 10 meetings.
Grahovac and Montgomery each recorded their team-leading 14th multi-hit game.
Grahovac has now reached base safely in 18 straight games.
Montgomery has now logged 16 multi-RBI games this season.
The junior has also now homered in every road venue the Aggies have played in this season.
Camarillo extended his on-base streak to 15 games.
Appel pushed his on-base streak to 14 games.
