News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
“I am pleased to advance to the Sweet 16. It’s not easy to do. There is some extra pressure out there whether anyone wants to recognize that or not. I was very pleased that Lexington as a lone freshman was able to pull through there at the end. She did a good job at staying focused and getting across the finish line as a freshman to advance to the Sweet 16.”
“The doubles were important, it was a dog fight out there. If we don’t win the doubles point, that’s even more of a dogfight out there than it was. I had switched the doubles teams, and had confidence in what we were doing. I was pleased with number 3 taking care of business and getting that 1-0 lead in the NCAA tournament goes a long way.”
“That was big for me. I wish I could have finished in the second set, but to come back in the third like that was huge. To clinch the match really meant a lot to me because that was my first time.”
“We work so hard in practice and just compete every single match. We’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing.”
