BISHOP, Ga. – The No. 2 Texas A&M equestrian team dropped its SEC opener at No. 6 Georgia (1-2) by raw score, 1592.5-1574.5, Saturday morning from the UGA Equestrian Complex.
The Aggies (2-1) faced an early 4-1 deficit through Flat as Brooke Brombach scored the lone point for the Maroon & White with an 88 on Sally. In Reining, Texas A&M battled back with a 3-2 victory to trim the deficit to 6-4 at the halftime break. Gracie Casebolt registered a team-high 71.5 on Mr. Boaz, while Mattie Gustin (70.5) and Isabelle Gonzalez (70) also picked up wins for the Aggies.
The Maroon & White opened the second half with a 3-1 victory in Fences to even the score at 7-7. Kate Egan earned her second MOP honor of the season with a program record 93 on Giovanni. Alexa Leong picked up her second win of the season with a career-high 92 on Perry. Alida Treuting picked up the final point of the event with a ride of 89 on Camboro.
The two squads remained deadlocked, 9-9, following a 2-2 tie in Horsemanship. Kaitlyn Bloom logged MOP honors after registering a season-high 77 on Peppy. The MOP honor marked the first of the junior’s career. Kendall Dirksen picked up the other point for the Aggies with a 76 on Olive.
