News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

OXFORD – The No. 2 ranked Texas A&M baseball team concludes its 2024 road slate with a three-game set at Ole Miss starting Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Aggies (41-8, 16-8) are coming off a midweek win over Rice, which capped off an undefeated non-conference slate. The Maroon & White went 25-0 for the first time since 2015 and finished 13-0 in midweek contests.

Friday’s series opener marks the 39th meeting all-time between the Aggies and Rebels (25-23, 9-15). Texas A&M has claimed the last three series between the two sides and is 19-19 against Ole Miss.

For the sixth straight week, Texas A&M is a unanimous Top 5 team across all five major polls. Four of the five polls have the Aggies ranked as high as No. 2, while D1Baseball.com has the Maroon & White at No. 3.

Under first year pitching coach Max Weiner, the Aggie pitching staff has lowered its ERA from a season ago by nearly two runs. The Maroon & White rank first in shutouts (8), fourth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.26), sixth in ERA (3.89), sixth in WHIP (1.24), 11th in walks allowed per nine (3.30), 12th in hits allowed per nine (7.83) and 13th in strikeouts per nine (10.8).

Offensively, the Aggies have been scorching of late as they’ve averaged 11.1 runs per game over the last 16 contests. Nationally, Texas A&M ranks first in walks (328), fourth in homers (113), fourth in homers per game (2.31), fourth in slugging percentage (.596), fifth in on-base percentage (.437), sixth in runs (464), eighth in scoring (9.5), 10th in hits (527) and 18th in batting average (.314).

The Aggies have arguably the best 1-2-3 lineup punch in all of college baseball in Gavin Grahovac, Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery. The trio has combined for 200 of the Aggies 438 RBI on the year.

Entering the weekend, Montgomery ranks third nationally in RBI (73), fifth in RBI per game (1.55), seventh in homers (24), seventh in homers per game (0.49), ninth in walks (48), 11th in total bases (146) and 16th in slugging percentage (.813).

Against Alabama on April 20, LaViolette became the first player in program history to record back-to-back seasons of 20 or more home runs. LaViolette and Montgomery are also the first pair of teammates in program history to hit 20 or more homers each in a season.

Grahovac has turned in a stellar rookie campaign thus far, ranking fourth in the SEC in RBI with 57. In SEC play, Grahovac has belted 12 homers and driven in 30 RBI.
