No. 17 Texas A&M drops series finale at No. 6 Auburn, 5-4

AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 17 Texas A&M softball team fell to No. 6 Auburn, 5-4, Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field.

Auburn (46-9, 16-7 SEC) took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Carlee Wallace delivered an RBI single to center. In the third, the Tigers scored two runs on a Kasey Cooper home run to right and a Jade Rhodes RBI double to left.

Texas A&M (37-17, 9-15 SEC) cut the lead to one in the fifth as freshman Samantha Show belted her third home run of the series before freshman Keeli Milligan drove in freshman Riley Sartain on a two-out triple down the left-field line.

The Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom half on back-to-back home runs from Emily Carosone and Cooper.

The Aggies mounted a rally two-out rally in the seventh as Sartain drew a walk before sophomore Erica Russell hit a two-run homer to right.

Sophomore Trinity Harrington was saddled with loss to move to 7-7 on the season. Show threw three innings of relief, and sophomore Kayla Ober closed out the game in the circle with two innings of work giving up three hits with a strikeout.

The Aggies will be the 10th seed at the SEC Tournament and will play No. 7 LSU on Wednesday at 1:30 on the SEC Network. The game can also be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM or online at www.RadioAggieland.com.
