No. 16 Texas A&M downed in series finale at No. 19 Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 16 Texas A&M softball fell to No. 19 Missouri, 7-1, Monday in the series finale at University Field.

“We did a poor job of taking care of the ball,” head coach Jo Evans said. “Offensively, we never got on track. You look at the game and we left three runners on. We didn’t have an inning where we rallied or made anything happen. It was frustrating. I thought Trinity Harrington did well. She gave up one home run and one earned run. We just didn’t take care of the ball and made it hard on our pitchers all day.”

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the third on a Chloe Rathburn sacrifice fly, prior to Sami Fagan stealing home.

Sophomore Tori Vidales answered in the fourth with a one-out solo home run to left, her team-high 13th of the season. The homer is Vidales’ seventh in SEC play, which is tied for second in the league.

Mizzou countered in the bottom half, scoring three runs on two hits and two errors. Kolby Romaine hit a solo home run to left, before Chloe Rathburn reached on an error, allowing Taylor Gadbois and Emily Crane to score. In the fifth, Romaine hit a two-run homer to give the Tigers a 7-1 advantage.

Sophomore Trinity Harrington suffered the loss to move to 6-5 on the season. The Greeley, Colo., native gave up five runs, one earned, in 3.2 innings.

The Aggies (33-14, 6-12 SEC) return to action Wednesday at Texas State at 6 p.m. The game can be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM or online at www.RadioAggieland.com.
