No. 13 Texas A&M Men’s Tennis Competes in ITA Kickoff Weekend

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 13 Texas A&M men’s tennis team will compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Harvard, where the Aggies will take on the No. 21 UCLA Bruins at 1 p.m. at the Murr Center on Saturday.

The Aggies (1-0) are coming off their season opener win, defeating UTSA, 6-1. After striking first to earn the doubles point, the Maroon & White transitioned to singles, taking them down 5-1 to secure the win.

Texas A&M has a three-match winning streak against the Bruins (1-1), most recently with a 4-3 win in the 2024 season opener. JC Roddick, Giulio Perego and Tiago Pires all tallied singles points against UCLA to secure the win for the Aggies.

ITA Kickoff Weekend takes place from Jan. 24-26 with 56 different schools competing at 14 host sites. Each site hosts four teams who will compete in two rounds, semifinals and finals. The winner at each site will advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

The Aggies are looking to punch their ticket for a second year after advancing last year by beating Auburn in the semifinals and then knocking off the Georgia Bulldogs, 4-2, on their home court to move on to the indoor nationals.

The No. 2 seeded Aggies will either play No. 23 Harvard or Georgia on Sunday in the finals or consolation round, depending on the results of Saturday’s match.

Fans can watch the matches through the live stream or on Cracked Racquets or can follow along with live stats.
