STARTING HOT
Texas A&M’s 28-4 ledger is one of the hottest starts in the past 20 years, matching the 2007 and 2018 beginnings. Only the 2005 (30-2), 2008 (29-3) and 2017 (29-3) squads started the season better. The 8-1 record in SEC action is the best start in program history, while the three SEC series wins to begin league play marks the first time since 2017 to do so. Ol’ Sarge’s charges attack early and often scoring 50% (107-of-215) of their run production in the first three innings. The Aggies are 19-2 this season when leading after three innings and 44-2 with a lead after three innings in the Trisha Ford era.
HOWDY HAT COUNTER
The Aggies have blasted 47 home runs in 32 games, which matches the home run total a season ago in 56 games. Texas A&M has registered 13 multi-home run games, including seven games with at least three round trippers. Senior Trinity Cannon leads the sluggers with 10 home runs, marking her first career season with double-digit dingers. Following each home run, an Aggie slugger is greeted at home plate with the team’s Howdy Hat and Homer the Horse to celebrate.
WE LIKE IT WITH 2 OUTS
The Maroon & White have found success facing two outs batting .346 and driving in 95 runs, both ranking second in the SEC. Junior Allie Enright leads the team in two-out RBI with 23, followed by graduate Jazmine Hill driving in 16. The dynamic duo lead the team in two-out batting average with Hill registering at .484 and Enright at .462. The Aggies have scored 46% (99-of-215) of their runs with two outs, including 16 home runs with Enright leading the team with six two-out round trippers. Texas A&M leads the SEC in league play with 30 two-out RBI and have scored 63% (32-of-51) of its runs with two outs. Most recently in the series finale against Auburn, the Aggies scored 12 runs on two-outs in the 14-6 run-rule victory to complete the sweep.
RETURN OF KOKO
After missing six games from February 29 to March 6, junior Koko Wooley has been causing problems since her return in the previous 10 games. The junior leads the team in hits (11) and steals (5), while her .333 batting average and seven runs are second on the team. The speedster has caught SEC defenses napping swiping a league-leading five bases in conference action, while her 14 total stolen bases rank third most this season in the SEC.
