The beginning of Tuesday night’s College Station school board meeting was the swearing in of new board members Joshua Benn, Jeffrey Horak, and Kimberly McAdams.
At the end of the meeting, the board returned from executive session to vote on new leaders for the next year.
There is a new president. Replacing Jeff Harris, who retired from the board, is Michael Schaefer.
The new vice president is Geralyn Nolan. And the new secretary is Mike Nugent.
Brazos County commissioners hear from more opponents to the future “inner loop east” highway around the east side of Bryan and College Station. One of the affected property owners, Beverly Greenwood, says a political action committee has been formed in addition to a website against the project. Public comments continue to be accepted by the Texas Department of Transportation and the Bryan/College Station metropolitan planning organization. State officials gathered Tuesday (December 3) at the Texas A&M system’s Disaster City complex next to Easterwood Airport to tout the training that takes place for emergency responders. Officials also accepted $100,000 dollars of tools from domestic manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker that will be used by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, which is an A&M system.
