EXETER, N.H. (AP) _ A group of New Hampshire Republicans plans to travel to Austin, Texas next week to encourage Texas Gov. Rick Prry to run for president.
Former Republican National Committeeman Sean Mahoney and former state GOP executive director Paul Young are leading the delegation.
They plan to talk to the governor about the importance of New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary.
Mahoney confirmed the trip Wednesday but said details are tentative. He says the delegation would include a handful of Republican activists who think Perry is someone the country needs right now.
The Texas governor is expected to announce soon whether he will run for president. He recently called key activists in New Hampshire and Iowa to gauge their interest.
